Eleven year old James Kirkwood was given the responsibility to help alonf his four year old brother, Joseph. When little Joseph could not go on, James put him up on this back and carried him for twelve miles. Struggeling through the icey river, and high snow, be brought his little brother safeley into Rock Creek Camp. That night young James Kirkwood succumed to the exposure and breathed his last for the love of his brother.
